Inclusion

The Head of Education, classroom and therapy staff at Vranch House School are involved in developing and promoting the appropriate inclusion of children with disabilities in their local mainstream schools.

 

OVERALL AIMS:

  • To help ensure the successful inclusion of children with physical difficulties in their local mainstream schools

  • To act as point of contact and ensure good communication between Mainstream school and Vranch House School, and parents and carers

HOW WE CAN DO THIS

  • By providing information to Mainstream schools regarding the needs of children with physical difficulties on shared placements with Vranch House School. These include:

    • educational
    • medical
    • social / emotional
    • personal care
    • environmental
    • communication
    • equipment and therapy
  • By discussing each child's strengths and needs with each child's family, as well as the relevant Vranch House classroom and therapy staff on a regular basis.

  • By visiting each child in both their Vranch House class and their Mainstream setting on a regular basis.

  • By contributing to Annual Reviews which may be held in their Mainstream school.

  • By encouraging Mainstream school staff to visit Vranch House.

  • By providing training and advice to Mainstream school staff as appropriate.

  • By providing written reports and recommendations to develop the child's inclusion.

  • By liaison with the County Special Education Team (0-25), Support and Advisory Teacher Service and other professionals regarding a child's needs and progress.

  • By promoting inclusive lesson-planning and disability awareness in mainstream schools.
