I am a mum of 5, and started my career caring for children with additional needs before I had my children back in 1991, when I was a nanny for a little boy who was autistic. I went on to bring up my children and when I was expecting my youngest I went to work as an Auxiliary on various wards at the RD&E Hospital completing a Nursing Auxiliary course to do so.
Nearly 5 years ago I went to work at Ellen Tinkham special needs school in Exeter starting as a MTA then going on to Teaching Assistant twice a week. I also enabled 3 children with additional needs in my spare time taking them for days out, Hydrotherapy sessions, playing, baking and generally having fun!! I have taken courses in Makaton, Team Teach, Gastrostomy Feeding and many more.
I started working at Vranch House in September 2017 as an MTA in the secondary school provision. I also helped with Hydro. sessions. In January 2018, alongside my MTA role, I started working in Class 1 as an extra TA. In September 2018 I became a full-time TA in the Nursery and I am really enjoying my new role.
