Parent's Newsletter March 2014

Date added: Tuesday 4th March 2014
Latest updated: Thursday 23rd February 2023

Dear Parents

I hope you all had a lovely break over half term and managed to get some sunshine!

Thank you for all the lovely artefacts sent in for our Chinese New Year. We celebrated by learning some Chinese phrases and watching a play about the origins of the twelve Zodiac years.

On assemblies we followed the Sochi Winter Olympics and the success of Team GB. We learnt about different winter sports and played a friendly indoor Kurling match before half term.

Dates for your diaries

First day of second half of Spring term: 24th February, 2014 (Monday).

Last day of Spring term: 4th April (Friday).

First day of Summer term: 22nd April (Tuesday).

Celebrations and visits

We will be celebrating World Book Day on 6th March. Please send in your child's favourite book and any other interesting or rare books you might have.

On 24th March (Monday) two llamas, Ollie and Golly will visit us. Their owner will tell us where llamas are from, what they eat, their habits and other interesting facts. The children will have the opportunity to groom the llamas and take them for a walk around the garden. Ollie apparently knows some colours and can pick out a colour when asked. We welcome all families, siblings and those children who do not attend Vranch House on Mondays to come along. The llamas will be with us from 1.30pm. Please let us know in advance if your family would like to join us for some llama fun!

We will be celebrating Easter on Tuesday, 22nd April (first day after the holidays) from 2pm. All families and siblings welcome!

Curriculum topic

This half term we will be learning about minibeasts and other creepy crawlies and jungle animals nearer Easter. If you have any artefacts, books, stories, pictures that you could lend us for a short period we would be very happy to show them to the children.

Music Therapy

I am pleased to say that Sue Pratt (Music Therapist) has recovered well and she is now back with us on Thursdays as usual.

New pupils

We will be welcoming a new pupil, Mark from this half term. He is joining Chloe Bond and the children in Class 3. Another three pupils also joined us last half term, William and Imogen in Class 1 and Georgia in Class 3.

Saturday coffee morning

Thank you for all the lovely feedback about our coffee morning in January. Many of you asked for future dates. The next Saturday coffee morning for all families and siblings will be held on 10th May 10-12pm. As previously, Vranch volunteers will entertain and look after all children, giving parents an opportunity to chat, discuss, network over a cup of coffee and some nice treats!

Exeter City Football Tickets

Following on from the Exeter City Youth Football Team's visit to us at Christmas we have been very kindly offered the opportunity of our children attending an Exeter City Home Game.   In order that we can respond to the organisers please let Beverley in the office know as soon as possible if you would be interested in your Vranch House child and their carer taking up this opportunity.  We do not as yet have details of fixtures dates to which this offer applies.

Your feedback is much appreciated; please do not hesitate to contact me ([email protected]) or any member of Vranch House if you would like to discuss any aspect of your child's schooling.

Let us hope the rainy season is now over and Spring will arrive soon!
